Surface Tension

in cold weather

Your blood is pumping

But you are dead inside

If you say different

We know it’s a lie

The surface tension is

Breaking below

And when it pulls you under

We watch as you go

You cannot take back

What you thought was right

Now with riddled with doubt

You hide from the light

Summer will escape

The heat wave will leave

Water you’re under

Will cause you to freeze

You will try to surface

If only to breathe

But oh, what a surprise

When the water you're under

now concrete ice

And as the heart starts to slow

all your blood flow

We pretend not know

It was only a matter of time

heartbreak
