Surface Happiness
Fake It Till You Make It
Twinkling white lights shimmer on the Christmas tree - shadows casting figures down the hall
Gifts lovingly wrapped neatly underneath the Christmas tree
But it doesn’t feel like Christmas - much at all
The shadows move like breezes, blowing curtains in the dark
All at once they fade away and disappear
Leaving me to wonder what was illusion or make believe
illuminating what was never really there
The greatest acts of love sometimes are the ones hard to understand
Some days loneliness is a comfort all it’s own
Recreating happiness with what was left behind
Reaping the benefits from seeds already sewn
