This is a picture from an old sketchbook I own. I drew this over a Year ago before I wrote this piece.

She was the kind of woman expected to tough it out. People told her not to yell so she she didnt yell. Then people told her not to cry because she's strong so she shouldnt cry. People told her not to get an attitude, even when she was just passionate, so she decided that it would be best to just stop talking about topics that she was passionate about. She was told to not sit without crossing her legs even if after a while it made her uncomfortable. She was told not to slouch, she was told to stop walking so heavy, its bad enough that she looked manly. She was told to walk with her head held high but, not too high or else she looked bougiee. She was told not to wear pants and big clothes because she looked like a boy she was told not to wear dresses because then she would have to look out for the boys. She was told not to cut her hair because it was masculine but, then when she grew it out it still wasnt feminine. So she got a weave and they told her to love her natural hair but, when she did it was an issue because it didnt curl like the mixed girls hair. No tattoos that makes you look like a criminal but, when the white girl does it she was just expressing herself and being bold. She yearns to be free and consistantly hides who she is. She switches personalities and maybe that will also become a cool new dance trend. She switches them so often that she doesnt really know who she is. Which one is real which one is fake, it seems like a luxury that people always take. She thinks of these things like her super powers. She doesnt cry, she always knows how to help someone else, she fights for everyone but herself if she does then she's doing too much and even though they all say that to her she won't give up, she's had enough. She laughs for everyone, she supports everyone, inspires everyone, she makes ideas for everyone, she is the blueprint for everyone and even in knowing that she's not 'super' enough to get credit for atleast one but, she keeps going anyway because its in her nature to be so smooth and cool that people devour her identity but simultaneously hate her. She tries to save everyone, and she does it all while being treated like a neglected garden. Trampled upon. uprooted. over watered. underwatered. And burned to the ground. People smell the ashes in the air but why would they help 'super woman' out? She takes a million punches everyday but when she throws one back she's a bad person. Superheroes dont do that, maybe if we shame her that'll teach her a lesson. The woman of steel doesnt get any bruises but, little do they know that melanin isnt steel her skin still bruises. It scars, it hurts, and it gets worse because no one tends to it so it gets infected while she tries to manage it. She is super woman, she can just heal it, if she loses an arm who cares? She can deal with it. Her superpowers some how manage to keep her alive and thats all the people see. You're so strong they say. You're a Super woman. Well here's a fun fact: The super woman bleeds. The melanin is beautiful but people use it to rip her apart into two extremes. It pulls her so much that she can clearly hear her inner screams. She's either super human or not human enough she's either a super woman or not woman enough. "I cant fall apart how dumb would that would be. I am a black woman I am a super woman you see." She mutters this as she walks down the hall and she pretends that the weight she carries won't make her fall. She walks in her house and looks at the wall. She crumples to the floor and she falls apart. Its too much to maintain being a black girl in this world today. She just wanted to be herself just like everybody else but, the price for that was too much for her to pay. So she clings to the mantle of super human its the only way to survive. Even though she is still human being just human is not enough to keep her alive.
