Sunset

Origin

By Siofra O’Donovan Published 5 years ago 1 min read

Sunset

A warm breeze

Settles cool and crisp

The day is nearly

And

Almost

done

And with the sinking light

Drops a

A sadness

vast

Immense

And

hollow

My white hot pit

And ball of

anger searing

Soul splitting

Flames spitting

Rage

And pain

Burns out

Your power is no more

You will be no more

Your presence fading

Blurring, merging, erasing

Alongside the

Rays of the

orange golden sun

Where a cove of hope

Had formed

By the shore

As the evening draws in

The tide swells

And cool black

Water rushes in

A pool

Begins to form

Where hope had once

Hidden

small, lost and forlorn

Nesting itself pitifully

Within a frozen

And a barren

Watery home

I know

I must put you

Away

I

Must

Put you to rest

So I set to the task

And set

You, to

the sail

I light the torch

From the dying fire

By the light of

the setting sun

And push you out

Out far

Into the night

Into the waters

Deep

Dark

Vast

Immense

And

Old

And I wait

And I watch

And I watch

And I wait

And I breathe

And I breathe

And I watch

And I wait

Until

The last breath

Comes

And is gone

And

Your fate is

sealed

No flames

can be seen

Now

No light

is left

burning

In the set sun

The darkness is

Consuming and

complete

You are gone

I am alone

And.

I am free
