Sunny Side Up
The morning breaks in gold,
light spills across the floor.
The kettle hums its song,
while bread begins to rise.
Sunny side up on the plate,
a symbol of beginning.
The day holds out its hand,
inviting me to try.
I taste the warmth of hope,
as if the sun is near.
Each bite a quiet promise,
that sorrow can be fed.
The window shines with light,
the curtains breathe with air.
I sit with steady calm,
and watch the morning grow.
Sunny side up they call it,
a phrase of brighter things.
To turn the world around,
and lift the heavy dark.
Yet even as I smile,
the night is not erased.
But morning gives me reason,
to walk a lighter road.
I hold the plate with care,
as though it were a gift.
Sunny side up reminds me,
that hope can taste like bread.
So let the morning stay,
with yolk as bright as day.
A gentle sign of courage,
to carry me along.
