Easter Candy—70% Off
At your local Walgreen’s
Seven dollar apiece chocolate bunnies
Bought last week for children
Now cost a buck and a half
Easter lilies,
Droop a bit
Still literally lily-white
But slightly dingy
No discount there
Church sparsely attended
Empty pews
Recycled scripture from Acts
Choir singing energetically
Congregation mostly silent
City parks mostly empty
Little shards
Of last week’s
Pinatas and cascarones
Gaily colored litter
Backyard grills idled
Restaurants mostly empty
Easter candy
Mostly consumed
Wrappers strewn in odd corners
Easter’s promise
Renewal for the world
But the world
Could use a
An afternoon nap
