Sun, Hello Again.

1st March 2025

By Daisy Shepherd-CrossPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

Sun, hello again.

I invite you in after a while of abandon,

to etch freckles onto my porcelain cheeks,

to cast each strand of my hair in your golden kiln, from my tummy to my toes,

and to criss-cross my skin with tan lines, for his fingers to trace that late afternoon.

I ask you to let my steps drag,

let me flirt, give me frills,

let my lips chap from your burn, from too much kissing, from the sweet peaches of the season,

make me present, make me sweat and make me write.

And as your rays carve lines into my skin,

I will patiently count the markings,

for each mark represents another hour of living.

Promise me Sun, you'll stay for a while.
