Summertime Blooms Unexpected Blossoms
A Day This Lady Will Never Forget
Listen my sweetie as I tell you this
It all happened a long, long time ago
Sit for a moment as I reminisce
The grasslands around town needed a mow
A garden club was made by the town hall
For all to help out in the nice weather
Also to make space for the game baseball
Its great medicine being together
Hanging in the garden is in my blood
I love the great outdoors, the dirt and sun
Swimming, fishing and playing in the mud
Friends and family make it so much fun
Oh and by the way my name is Irene
These are my brothers and I am fourteen
A June morning dawned a clear sunny sky
Filling me full of happiness and glee
The rain stopped and it was now hot and dry
Got all my chores done by seven-o-three
We all met by the church at eight o'clock
Helped unpack and organize everything
At eleven with great surprise and shock
In shade over yonder the choir did sing
Singing along as we dug and planted
Tons of amazing colorful flowers
The results were fairy book enchanted
And it only took us a few hours
This wonderful day in the great outside
Full of fresh air and fun it did provide
All the town gardens are a lovely site
That will last all summer and years to come
For people to enjoy with much delight
They're no longer ugly, sad or humdrum
Later that day there was a barbeque
With so many goodies and homemade treats
Also chili, fried chicken and beef stew
Those delicious foods were super good eats
Before the day ends we all took a stroll
Sauntering allover nature's hillside
Soaking it deep into our hearts and soul
Its vivid beauty had us all wide eyed
Everything in town is perfectly right
My first kiss was that night under moonlight
