a musky prediction
warning of the
coming cloudburst
blessing the land
with cool spheres of
hydrant care
blossoming like
conical bluebells
in the soft
newly worked soil
⋆.ೃ࿔⛈ ˖*༄
every penetrating drop
bids the earth exhale
⋆.ೃ࿔⛈ ˖*༄
rivers robed in
buttery pollen gushes through
cracks in the
surrounding dry earth
grasping like thousands of
tessellating hands
branching and disappearing
into the dirt
⋆.ೃ࿔⛈ ˖*༄
precipitation graces
plowed farm and
meadow alike
vacant dead lot and
fertile land sprouting new life
bringing equal
bouts of flood and
nourishing respite
⋆.ೃ࿔⛈ ˖*༄
air churns in eddying gusts
ripping limbs
dumping aromatic needles
by the truckload
the breathtaking scent
of pine clings
to the thin oxygen
refreshing the mind
a full inhalation leads to
bronchodilation,
clearing the lungs of
built-up grime
⋆.ೃ࿔⛈ ˖*༄
after the barrage
clouds of
chemical exhaust are
dampened and tamped down
sticky oil slicks
sheet off the road
the only sensory input left —
the heady scent of pine
