i believed in you and every word said.
i twirled as those words echoed in my head
spinning circles, daisies brushing my thighs,
hazy summer sun, romance glazed my eyes.
pathological words built a façade;
much like summer of ’69 but flawed.
i learned you have a charles manson charm,
but no family to raise any alarm.
i watched kaleidoscope condensation
slip down my drink from the heat of the nation
10050 cielo drive, you knew
i’d adhere to your dark, twisted world view.
an innocent starry-eyed romantic;
but you took my pretty mind for granted.
About the Creator
brittany schmidt
starry-eyed human with romance tangled in her hair; probably off napping somewhere.
