A day so hot you exhaled breaths of heat

Perhaps an egg could be boiled on the street

Little chance of expecting a repreive

Inhaling steam each time you tried to breathe

The sun glaring down shinning so brightly

Stillness in the air holding so tightly

Suddenly a cloud appeared in the sky

Looking up as raindrops fell in my eyes

Blessed relief from the pain of the heat

I kicked off my shoes to free my hurting feet

Lifting my hands I danced as warm rain fell

Sun shining through the droplets cast a spell

Mesmerized I suddenly feel at ease

Kissed by a soft warm gentle summer breeze
