The sun was hot, crowd loud, wind had blown steady

I sat in my gown, staring at the institution I had grown to hate

Hurry up and call my name, I promise I am ready

It took 12 years, lots of tears, but now it's time to graduate

Since preschool day we had always stayed together

The best of friends, I thought you were the piece I'd always been missing

It seems school was the thing that kept us tethered

Haven't seen you since that day, but I still love reminiscing

The boy who became my first love, we started to date in May

Perfect on paper but yet he left me bereft

I learned a lot about myself before I forced him away

Still I’ve been looking for him in every person since the day that he left

Growing up is difficult, but don’t let dark clouds loom

Just think about how beautiful life will be once the flowers bloom
