Sugar and Ice

The Sugar Mask

She had no choice but to use the mask

on the surface, she was sweet as sugar, but underneath, she was cold as ice.

no one knew her real story

she wasn't sure who she could trust

she couldn't just tell anyone the ominous things

who would believe such treachery could happen to a young girl

but it did

and it forever haunts her like monsters in the night ready to pounce the second she has her guard down.

so the mask she wears the sweet mask made of sugar

no one will ever know the ice created beneath so she will never again have to feel pain.
