Terry Jones had a plan. At least, he liked to think of it that way. He’d been saving up for his first car for months now. Sixteen, broke, and desperate for some freedom, he’d managed to scrape together $850 by mowing lawns, walking dogs, and selling old video games. But a car—at least one that wouldn’t fall apart on the way home—cost more. He needed $2,000, minimum.
The problem was simple: Terry couldn’t keep his hands off sweets.
It wasn’t just a craving; it was a compulsion. Chocolate bars, gummy worms, licorice ropes, frosted donuts—if it was sugary, it was in his hands before he could think.
