Suffocation Under the Eyes of God
There is no greater weight than that of knowing.

Nicola Samori, Untitled
An angel stands in my room
I am pressed against his chest, uncomfortably close
His wings seem to snake around and suck up all the air
All the space in the room
I cannot breathe for the feathers in my mouth
And I cannot tell if his outline is human or something worse
His mouth is clear and wide and smiling
His eyes blurred away
Like someone censored the best part
“Why are you here?” I ask.
“You fool,” he responds
“Shouldn’t you already know?”
