I did not run to you because you were reliable
but, because the world was a little too brown
and even Your kind of dull can't shake
the dullness of Death.
You are a death.
Cold can be considered a severance,
and you had been sharpening yourself
for years.
How heavy - maybe thirty pounds worth?
I carried the package of ashes to you,
shaken, and you were surprised.
Anyone loving you must be surprising,
and I was surprised that you were
the only viable option.
The bones are heavy.
But, what is left of you,
is nothing but light.
