Subliminally Obvious

I thought you were the one...

When the day is done,

and they're awkwardly alone..

baby boy is tucked in,

sleeping with a grin.

How was your day?

they ask each other,

almost as if they,

they couldn't care for a response.

One day they had,

their whole world in their palms..

and to no one's choosing,

they no longer could calm.

The feelings aren't gone,

and they both try so hard

To fight the demons,

that caused this severe harm.

It snuck up so subliminally,

and took the light that once shown,

in one another's soft eyes,

so quickly and sly,

hell, those two didn't know.

Now he feels her breathing,

sobbing at night..

for the one whom finally

was able to be her light,

slipped away so quietly..

And didn't anymore, try and love her right.

He cries sometimes too,

yearning for his soul's food.

Her soul just sits slouched,

When he's drunk on the couch..

Because he can't understand

just how the world doesn't end,

when the love that was there,

was so subliminal,

yet

So obviously criminal.
