i love you

i never knew three words

held such ambiguity

until you jumped the fence

into new territory

i couldn't follow

the grass is greener on the other side

so we crossed those words out of our conversations

but not our bodies

(actions speak louder than words anyway)

it wasn't enough

the words that helped us to grow

poisoned us

until we died

even when we were dead

i loved you

[time passes

and life changes]

now

we're here

like before

but different

and yet

i still can't say

i love you
