Stray

Why? For So Long.

I crave something different,

but I miss that feeling.

I told myself to run.

But I didn't mind sitting.

You're no good for me,

but I hate being free.

Why did I have to flee?

In order to grow,

I have to do this on my own.

You,

of course,

are all I've ever known.

Why did I have to leave?

Will I be missed?

You oak cover in vines,

with no paths be true,

I got lost in you,

but I liked the twists.

Why did I want to stray?

I witnessed every sign,

a life without you on my mind.

Every pattern,

I discern.

Every cut,

scarred,

and burn.

Why did I want to stay?
