STOP EMAILING ME!!
Election day can’t come soon enough!
##
Whether to pay bills or keep in touch with non-local friends and relatives, most of us rely on our email systems.
Thinking back to years gone by, how did we survive without our all-too-easy internet?
Yet we did but then!! Wow, what a breeze! No more running to the post office for stamps! No more hoping our bills didn’t get lost in the mail or even, just delayed. No more running out of checks that we forgot to order from the bank.
Just open the account, put in your information, click “submit” and voila! Your bill is paid. Or perhaps, you, for whatever reason, couldn’t get to a store and needed to make an online order. Now, you just did with and found a promise delivery date for just a few days away. How easy was that?
Even many of the supermarkets are on board. Go to their website, sign up for their notifications (yes by email), then after you receive your code, order your food and yes, they will deliver it.
Well, our emails have gotten way out of hand, thanks to …. To whom? AI? The government? Who is it that passes our emails around and how do we stop it?
Let’s take this morning for instance. I opened my emails expecting a notification from the radiologist. What I found instead were twenty-seven emails from various politicians hoping to win my vote, and of course each of these emails was hoping for a “campaign contribution” – I couldn’t delete them fast enough.
I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve hit the “unsubscribe” link. What’s amazing is that I have NEVER subscribed to any of them. So, I click the link. I know the email will show up once again. It never fails.
I am SO looking forward to November 3 when this damn election is over and done!! Yes, may the best person win (and I’m not going to start a political war by saying who my preference is) but let’s just say the current administration is draining my wallet.
For the most part, they’ve stopped calling. A few calls might trickle in now and then, but since I stopped answering, the majority of calls have stopped.
Now, if only I could stop their bloody emails!!
?/?/?
I've written many letters, trying to find hope.
Perhaps someone would listen - someone who's gained my vote.
My congressman or mayor, legislators, too,
Mentioning my problems to see what they would do.
It's almost re-election time, "Can't start new projects now.
Get in touch in January; we'll try to help, somehow."
But when the new year rolls around and January's begun,
Will I still look for answers? From someone? Anyone?
I'm told the new year's difficult; They must get settled in
To the office that I was a help in getting them to win.
So, now I'm writing once again my letters of distress,
But not to politicians. They can't read SOS!!
