Stones I Keep
They don’t glow, they don’t hum,
they just sit where I leave them
cold to the touch,
hard as the truth
you won’t say out loud.
No gospel, no spell,
just quartz and amethyst,
lined up in a dish
like old coins
from a place I barely remember.
No they don’t fix what broke
And don’t promise to try.
But I hold one tight
when sleep won’t come
and lies press down
like damp on bone.
I keep one near the bath,
one in my coat —
the one with the chip
where I dropped it once
on the way to a funeral.
I don’t know if they heal,
but they stay
when others don’t.
And that’s enough.
1.Rose Quartz
I never wore pink
but I keep this near my bed.
It’s smooth, shaped like a heart
I reach for it
when the ache returns.
It doesn’t judge
doesn’t flinch
just listens
the way people don’t.
2 Smoky Quartz
Found it in a market
between cheap rings and old books.
It looked like glass left in fire
and felt just right in my palm.
I held it
through the worst conversation of my life.
Never said a word
but I did.
3 Citrine
It’s meant to bring light.
I don’t believe that
but I liked the colour
reminded me of my aunt’s old perfume bottle,
gold and a little stubborn.
