Stone Angel

Poem

By Chelsea RipleyPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

Stone angels guard the gates of a beautiful garden. I walk down the path, past the stone guardian. Does she watch me as I pass?

Rain clouds start to appear and an old tree provides me with shelter. What's this I see, peeking from behind the roses. An ancient fountain dry of water, but still somehow dripping.

I continue my journey, following the lake. As i gaze into the water, rain starts falling from the dark sky. I turn to go, leaving behind the secrets of this place. As i rush out of the gates, something brushes my shoulder. I am confronted once again by the angel's stony silence. Is that a smile I see upon its face?
