Stolen Innocents

You took what you never really wanted

Stolen Innocents

They entered life with trusting eyes,

Believing every spoken guide,

Too young to question hidden lies,

Too pure to see what lurked inside.

The world appeared both warm and bright,

Filled with wonder day and night,

Until shadows crossed their path,

Leaving scars from cruel aftermath.

Dreams once danced within their minds,

Like birds released upon the wind,

Then hands of darkness reached too far,

Leaving wounds beneath each star.

Silent cries filled empty rooms,

Echoing through endless gloom,

Stories buried deep from sight,

Hidden from the morning light.

The years moved on though pain remained,

A constant ache they never named,

Memories lingered sharp and clear,

Returning with each passing year.

Some found courage to finally speak,

Though strength felt distant and hope seemed weak,

Their truth emerged through fear and pain,

Refusing to be lost again.

No thief can keep what they have taken,

Though lives were hurt and hearts were shaken,

The spirit rises through the storm,

Finding ways to be reborn.

For every innocent betrayed,

A light survives that will not fade,

Standing strong despite the cost,

Honouring all that once was lost.
