Sting Ray

Wings that cannot fly

Sting Ray

Soaring on graceful wings that cannot fly

scouring the sand for life

drifting over beds of coral where treasures lie

living below the worldly strife

The gentle undulation of sturdy wings

in grace beyond mere mortals

the joy of spirit within sings

with this glimpse of other portals

Whip like sails with barbs sharp tipped

defends and protects tender meat

covered by leathered skin not easily ripped

propelled by wings graceful beat

Just eyes barely above the sand

then leap! Up into the blue

graceful motions each fully planned

in pursuit or fleeing enemy true

With colors of gray, or blue or green

the angels of the deep

glide stately by when they are seen

giving memories to keep
