Steps

a poem

The steps to my door are very unique,

The first one is made of stone,

It is sturdy and strong,

Resilient as ever,

It will stand the test of time.

The next one, carefully carved,

With a whimsical design,

Is made of pure marble,

It's beauty is timeless.

My third step is a little different from the others,

It is nothing more than a worn piece of wood,

But the marred step has character,

Like none I've ever known.

The fourth and last is new,

with a freshly laid concrete base,

Not a dusty print,

Has disturbed this step.

The steps to my door are very unique,

So different,

They seem not to match,

But in my mind,

They couldn't be more similar.
