STEP INTO OCTOBER

Step into October and watch the leaves,
As they gently float down from the trees,
It’s nice to sit upon a bench,
And watch how autumn can tease.

The leaves are scattered on the ground,
Like golden treasures beneath your feet,
They rustle, tumble, dance around,
And make October a before-winter treat.

There’s something special in the air,
A quietness that summer never knew,
The trees are slowly getting bare,
As autumn paints the world anew.

I watch a little leaf let go,
It doesn’t fight or make a sound,
It simply trusts the wind to blow,
And carry it gently to the ground.

The pathways wear their golden coats,
The morning mist begins to rise,
And somewhere one last songbird sings,
Beneath October’s changing skies.

Some people hurry through the park,
And never see what’s at their feet,
But I could sit here until dark,
For moments like these are hard to beat.

October isn’t just a month,
It’s somewhere I can disappear,
Among the trees, the falling leaves,
Before the winter days draw near.

And when the final leaf has fallen,
And all the branches stand alone,
I’ll thank October for its beauty,
And the little world it made my own.
