stay away, all of you

stay away

all of you

with all the things i cannot bear

your excruciating care

and your silence

like i need you

not to say a word

like i need you

at all

tiptoeing around me

rather than walking to me

or with me

or behind me

you shoot me

sad smiles

instead of real ones

and your gentle hand

on my trembling knee

feels cold and bleak

when it’s my eyes

you do not meet

gentle pity

you wear it

on your sleeve

though you must know

it is scorned by me

and while i might mistake

your hesitant decency

for kindness

i must believe

it may just be a symptom

of your cruelty
