Statuesque

Rocked from the pedastle

Decimating darkness

Has arrived

To precede

My only dawn

Penumbra black

Pitch-thick

Weeping down

My sickly alabaster shell

The putrid lack of color

Devours light

Captures heat

Spreading out

Encapsulating and

Suffocating me

Oily tentacles

Reaching inside my

Very being

Gritty, chill, slowly hardening

Thoughts race, slowing

To its molasses pace

I inhale to the

Maximum capacity

Compressed lungs

Intake fractional oxygen

Permeating the bloodstream

As I await, in stasis

Slowly rocking

Momentum I generate

Footing destabilized

Insets a manic state

Terror and glee

Logically knowing

The only way

To wrest myself free

Yet the fall

Never hurts

It’s the piercing crash

Into a pile of razor sharp debris

I gingerly extricate

My shattered and broken frame

From shards of

Ebony truth

Rotating

One hundred eighty degrees

I marvel

Formerly unseen strength

Released

The weight of a lifetime

I pick up a slice

Reflective and sharp

Diamond-hard

From its time in the sun

Blood, streaming

Its shiny length

I scratch my story

In Bas-relief

The nearest stone face

Now proclaims my name

The cornerstone at

The Old Town Hall

The only justice I could

Ever compel
