Start to Finish
Trying to get things to go from Start to Finish
Buying food for one is a sure endeavor
The customers are always satisfied
Although, I can see the back inside wall of the fridge all too well
It’s not quantity
It’s quality
It’s efficiency with food
Buying food for two becomes more complicated
And same with three and four and five
Complications, details, diets, preferences, diet this, low sugar that
The fridge is spilling
The fridge is spewing
Food can’t fit inside this corpse
The most present this ghost in the house is
That would be when the lists get made
But here’s a greeting given and it’s time to expect one in return
.
Or any funny stories?
.
I know my ghost is here
My ghost is crunching on some chips
Time to tell my ghost my good news from the world out there
.
I said, “A success”
.
I’m a bat of good news
Flying in the dark of night
Bouncing successes off walls for only my ears to hear
.
Maybe if I repeat myself
.
How else can one convey the news?
There’s got to be another way
Using excessive volume and enunciation oughta to do the trick
.
EVEN MORE EXCESSIVE VOLUME
.
I’m a pitcher without a catcher
A quarterback without a receiver
Let me throw this convo downfield with the perfect spiral
.
Grounding… no receivers in the area
.
Penalty flags on Hail Marys
Curveballs with no glove-destination
I should’ve considered a one-man sport like tennis
.
No, not Dennis
.
Dennis is no one
.
I didn’t bring him up
.
No, I said… never mind
.
Time to become a ghost
Back to food for one
Conversations for one always go as planned
Stiff like cardboard
Hollow like a bird bone
But at least they go from start to finish
