Starry Eyes

I could not look away, it was love at first sight

A wink from across the room

Drew me to your eyes

They glittered like stars in the night’s sky

*

I became enthralled

By flashing and flickering specs of blue

Blessed by a chorus of stars that shined so bright

*

Everyone else disappeared

The room turned black

You serenaded me with heaven in your eyes

*

They reminded me of sprinkled sugar

Present to sweeten up my heart

The more I stare, they become

Lanterns released into the night

*

Then you moved

You turned your handsome face

The darkness disappeared

Reality began to set in in its place

*

The last I saw was fireflies

Now it’s all quiet and serene

I couldn’t stop myself from staring

You will be my version of Van Gogh’s starry night in my dreams
