Streaks of

daunting white

chase me down in

the night

as I run thru red-blue fields.

My feet pound the Earth

stained violet

with seeping red

heels, looking to defy gravity

for a free flight to Venus.

There my name could be Iridescence,

smudging my purple feet

on it’s white surface

doing the foxtrot

as a mnemonic device.

Turning mistakes to shiny silver swords,

to defend those that

taught my black ass to fly.

surreal poetry
