Static
There is static under my skin,
A low electric hum,
Turning quiet moments
Into something yet to come.
My brain is getting foggy,
My head beating like a drum.
Oh God, this is embarrassing—
My face is turning plum.
Oh no, I forgot my lines.
My head screams, “I want my mum!”
No, no—grow up now, girl.
You’re an adult; don’t be so dumb.
Oh, this play is going to shit,
This performance is a bum.
My stage director rolls his eyes,
Now looking rather glum.
Here come the anxious sweats—
We have only just begun.
I memorised every single line…
Yet now my mind has none.
Im the understudy two day in
Thats it my career is done
Oh hear it come sweat dripping now
The curtain’s up, no where to run”
