Springtime at the Potomac

Cherry Blossoms in Washington, DC

When down by the Potomac River,

The lower basin seems lined in pink,

Beautiful Cherry Blossoms,

Bring fourth the start of spring,

The sweet smell is waved around by the wind,

Feel it on your face and chin,

It will leave you with a grin,

As you walk down the riverbank,

Hear the sounds of water flowing by,

Knowing these pink trees,

Make the Potomac look alive,

Hearing the birds,

Tweet and chirp,

Their sweet sound is longing to be heard,

When you sail down the lower basin,

Look at all this beauty in pink,

Might stop to make you think,

About the mighty Potomac River,

In all its glory,

You would hope to know the story,

As you look out at the River,

I would hope you don't shiver,

See the beauty,

Of our Nation's Capital.
