Split Personality That’s You.
One Dream Away From The End

Split Personality That’s You.
You speak in tones that shift and slide,
A different self you keep inside,
One face for light, one face for night,
Both wrong, yet both feel strangely right.
I never know which one will stay,
Which one will turn, which drift away,
A fragile line, a broken seam,
Between the truth and what you dream.
You promise things you never keep,
Then bury them in silent sleep,
And wake as someone I once knew,
Yet not the one I thought was you.
Your mind divides, it pulls apart,
Each version plays a separate part,
A fractured path you cannot mend,
One dream away from reaching end.
I tried to hold what could not stay,
To fix the cracks that shaped your way,
But every step I thought was true,
Would shift again because of you.
No steady ground, no constant tone,
Just echoes I could not call home,
A voice that changed with every breath,
A living thing that tasted death.
And still I stayed, though I could see,
The cost it carved inside of me,
For somewhere deep, beneath the split,
Was something real that would not quit.
But even truth can fade and bend,
When pulled too far, it meets its end,
And I could feel the final thread,
Begin to break, begin to shred.
You stand now lost between your sides,
No place where either self resides,
A mirror cracked beyond repair,
No single soul remaining there.
One dream away, that final fall,
Where nothing answers when you call,
And I step back, I let you be,
What you have made, apart from me.
