Split Personality

No one know just me and you

Split Personality

I say I’m fine and mean it

then feel the cold hit later

when no one’s around

I dance in rooms I hate

smile at people I’ll forget

walk home with heavy steps

and talk to no one

I light candles

then blow them out

sleep with the telly on

because silence knows too much

I love hard

then vanish

miss people

but never say it

hold in

more than I show

I write poems that sound like truth

but leave the real things out

because they’d worry you

I’m not two people

just one

that got tired of choosing

which version you’d like better

I’ve worn peace like aftershave

just strong enough to hide the smoke

and if I ever come undone

you’ll hear it

in the things I don’t say

that my split personality

only you know
