An Ode Of Sorts

By Adri SotoPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

A half truth, empty promises, broken plans

You only showed when the storm seemed to pass

You only call when you need a hand

Warmth in your bones, or to feel less alone,

We were fated to be a temporary act

I've given my secrets, given my mask

I'd have given the world, but it's too late for that

I'll give you the glory,

that I feel lost, that you were a beacon

and I'm sinking fast

I regret to inform you, I'm taking it back

The power you stole, I will no longer lack,

Shameless, uninspired, filtered through

I was never the problem

Darling, it was always you

It's quiet now, where your voice once lived

A void can be a blessing,

and you've given me an abyss

I'll miss the midnight whispers

We were fated to be a tragedy

We're prone to dramatics, we play the part well

We give to our vices, we fall in ourselves

Give an inch, you'll take a mile

Give a moment, you'll take the hour

We were fated to break

Thank the sky we did

Shame, to be a ghost

To spectate on your own throne

Shame on me

Darling its time to go.
