When I was young
I was one of those shy,
Girls,
Who always sat, in the back of the class room
Kept, her head down and her mouth shut
Let everyone walk over her
Cared what they thought of her
Now that shes fifty years old
With all the work experience and all the
Friends and people she has met
Over the years.
They have showed her how to grow
As a individual
Have the confidence to speak, out for who she, is and what she, believes in
Now middle age, is just another stage
In life we go through and she doesn’t give a
F…
what others think of her
The shy girl, may still be there at times but
She, has now grown into a woman
Who speaks, her mind
Sticks,
Up for her son
Her friends
Co- workers
Sits, in front of the room
Will talk, to whoever she wants
And will stand up, not only for herself but others
Who may need a voice
For a individual
Like the shy, young girl, she once was

I’ve always had a interest in poetry since I took a creative writing class in high school. Writing poetry is my safe place where I can either get positive or sometimes negative energy out by my writing of poetry.
