Speak trees, speak!

Let your truths be known!

Oh, if it could, wood would speak

And let wisdom be shown

Yet they are seemingly silent

But oh the stories they’d tell

The events they’ve witnessed

The people they’ve seen

That trees give us life

We ought to remember well

Though their tales

They may never tell

And yet,

Trees do speak

In a sense

Very silently

Woodly wisdom they lend

Are you listening?

Teaching us about being rooted and grounded

In a steady foundation, a sturdy land

Not in the sand

By who’s hand?

Receiving life from water and earth

Giving life of greatest worth

Food, air, and sometimes shelter

Even shade when in sun we’d smelter

A servant to all

An enemy to none

Though through happenstance

Maybe a killer to some

But woods would not have it this way,

Had woods the chance to say

What’s on a tree’s mind?

If you listen you’ll find

Trees can be your friend

And to you wisdom lend

As well as fruit

For to show

You love and truth,

Life as only they know
