A poem

By Sara WilsonPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

I was holding all the tears back

trying not to make a scene

How did we go from best fucking friends

to you being so fucking mean?

-

Now what? I'm supposed to just pretend

that everything is fine?

I'm supposed to be your friend

when you couldn't be bothered to act like mine?

-

"I never meant to hurt you..."

"That wasn't an attack..."

"I promise we'll always be sisters..."

Bullshit. You never really had my back.

-

You don't remember my birthday

You only message when you're bored

You want me to answer every call

while all of mine go ignored.

-

Am I your dirty secret?

Your crumpled up love note?

You make me wanna vomit

So bad I can feel it in my throat.

-

"Oh my gosh! He cheated?!"

"Oh no! It was with her?!"

"Well, hey, that's still my brother..."

"We can't be friends the way we were."

-

Twelve long years have passed

and now you think it's time to try again?

Why do you wanna reach out now?

You should have been there for me then.

-

"Oh, I wasn't a good friend to you."

Well, no shit. Go ahead and tell me more...

"I think we should rebuild our friendship."

Friendship with you feels like a chore.

-

Aww.. now you're the one who's crying...

I guess that's all that's left to do

Why would you think that you could hurt me

and still have me consoling you?

Friendship
