Soul Shadow

A poem of color

By Will FabingPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

As a child I dreamt in textures

They used to scare me

Their colors were ambiguous

A metamorphosis unfolding before me

Hallucinations of other dimensions

are nothing new

But these visions

always led me to the same place

A lost time, in a deep forest

With fell trees

The glow of its essence

Was a mute, but telling verdigris

It’s damp mist

was surrounded

by a smothering darkness

This hue was not alone

It’s greenstone seemed infected

by ochre, azurite and vermillion.

And it’s fibers were terrible and large

They took up the whole sky

And the green stays with with me to this day

When my mind is empty

It’s still there

Waiting to be dreamt back into existence.

This color scares me

but I can’t help but be attracted

This green

My souls shadow.
