Say It Again

She sold her soul to the devil

For a touch of financial freedom and empty promises

She loved reading in her childhood, but those days are long gone

She knows now what it's like when the soul suffers

Her suppressed emotions surfaced far too late

She attempted to mend things

Using bent scissors and tape

It never quite worked as intended

The proper adhesive remained hidden

Her suppressed emotions surfaced far too late

When this happened, her two daughters formed two separate camps

Built on ignorance, humiliation, and a false facade

The mother added fuel to the fire and to her own veins

Literally and figuratively ruining herself and everyone around her

Her suppressed emotions surfaced far too late

Nobody could step in; they either silenced themselves or disconnected

Women inflicted barbaric acts upon themselves

Creating fictional visions to align with the best books

Only one of them would receive the rightful reward

Her suppressed emotions surfaced far too late

She can't name them, not yet

Gradually, she's opening herself to new experiences

She's spent years trying desperately to forget

Shielding herself and everyone else along the way
