Sonnet #15

Futility

By ChampionElCidPublished 10 days ago 1 min read

To always struggle, strains my very soul

To have no money makes living so hard

I worry of how full will be my bowl

I worry much and place myself on guard

Against impulse, lest I spend too much coin

And have no more to buy what I shall need

For that is when pain and regret will join

And take more than I can allow to bleed

In this sad state my life will always be

For I cannot see how to get ahead

No god above will listen to my plea

No way on earth to lessen this dark dread

And when too much this burden is to bear

My life will end, and no one else shall care
