Something Simple for an ET

if I'm not too scared to introduce myself

Don't know how or if you ingest food-

Not sure of the capacity of your taste buds-

Won't try to give you cuisine that needs to be chewed-

This introduction can't be a collection of duds-

-

We will not travel to the highest mountain-

Or sit at oceans end-

Because you drink from Space's fountain-

And I don't have the money to spend-

-

I'll give you the coordinates for teleportation-

I'll have a playlist ready-

For each street art installation-

The music will transition you from uneasy to steady-

-

You would have implanted yourself with the language transmitter chip-

So you could know the words lacing these melodies-

Benjamin Clementine's "Eternity" will make your inhibitions slip-

Labrinth's "Mount Everest" will show human idiosyncrasies-

-

Jon Baptiste's "Freedom" will make the paint strokes dance-

You'll look at murals and see whole lifetimes-

You'll see the importance of a momentary glance-

4 Non Blondes "What's Up" will make you ooze thick, multicolored slimes-

-

We'll go dart through Brooklyn, L.I.C., L.E.S., the Bronx, Harlem-

Playing Tetris with heartbreak, joy, contemplation, disappointment, and exultation-

Pausing our game frequently, as to not overwhelm-

You'll see the duality and contradiction-

-

We'll spend hours via our Eastern Standard Time zone-

Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" slumps you-

You'll want to walk and be drawn to the next mural alone-

I'll see you at sunrise, to give you hip hop too-
