SOMEDAY: I ALSO WONDER

Someday,
Perhaps not..
A thought will cross your mind
A small kernel of reflection
Whatever the motivation..
Whether a memory
Or a scent riding on a breeze
Maybe a tornado blowing through like a freight train
through a living room..
Oh, the intensity of that one..
Or a flitting sense of de'ja vu
As you flounder in freefall right before..
The parachute opens to catch
a wonderful draft like a player snagging a baseball before it leaves the field..
to be guided safely back to Earth
In the game again as you are left gasping..
In the excitement of defying death..
Or maybe
Just a comfortable contemplation..
On your favorite couch
and your favorite drink in hand
as that pesky mosquito you metaphorically swipe at
Finally..
Pokes its way into your conscious mind..
"I wonder whatever happened to so-and so?"
I also wonder.
