Somebody

A poem about truth

By Adam KolozettiPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

It weighs heavy,

The dark.

Sometimes.

It’s the silence.

I wait for a voice.

Something.

I know it’s there.

Quietly watching.

Can I call for it?

Will it answer?

The truth is there.

In the dark.

It is fear that hides it.

Holding a mirror.

Dare I look?

Or make a sound?

It will cost me myself.

Who am I? I cry.

And the answer. I’m

Somebody.

Such a small thing,

To feel worthy.

That small light,

Swaddled by the dark,

Grasps my hand.

I remember,

What I was afraid of.

It changes me,

The dark.

Sometimes.
