Snow Globe Shatter

I really liked that snow globe :(

Not my snow globe :( Picture by Akshay Nayak on Pexels :)

My snow globe shattered into pieces,

Some curved, others straight, some tiny -

Others a few inches.

The floor became flooded with little dots of glitter,

From the white chest of drawers to my new fluffy grey slippers.

The music box still plays when its turn is twisted,

circling around -

following the little bumps and tiny ridges.

The pair of white reindeer standing very still,

Are vulnerable to the vultures of rust,

Exposed to the sunlight they have never felt

Which carries damning dust.

How long before the sparkling white fades,

And the trees beside them look beyond their days.

Do the reindeer miss their old little world,

Of comfort - a safety...

One made of swirls.

I wish I could repair it, but I cannot fix

It is gone...

The snow globe shattered!

I went to catch it, then I missed -

It fell slicing the silence,

crashing waves against rocks,

An act of violence,

Gravity is not lost.

I really liked that snow globe :(
