Snow Day Prayer

by Sam Harty

By ᔕᗩᗰ ᕼᗩᖇTYPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

It's winter now

the leaves have fallen

it's getting colder

the sun comes out

although

a lot less bolder.

❄️❄️❄️

The children

press their noses

to the window,

wondering when

it might snow.

❄️❄️❄️

I walk outside

and I close my eyes

breathe in the smell

of the fireplace fires.

❄️❄️❄️

When it starts

to snow the children

throw on their coats,

rush outside and

shovel the snow

with their hands,

as the neighborhood

park transforms into

a winter wonderland.

❄️❄️❄️

The snow doesn't visit

us often here in the South

as it usually takes a more

northerly route.

❄️❄️❄️

Tonight we'll gather

and decorate the tree

with bells, ribbons

and colored lights

and we'll sing Christmas

carols into the night.

❄️❄️❄️

Before bed

well say a prayer

for peace on earth

that includes every

living being's right

to be free,

and live their truth

being who their hearts

tell them to be.
