smoke curls

self reflective poem by lindsey beatrice

By lindsey beatricePublished 4 years ago • 1 min read
dont worry it's legal where I live

smoke curls

and thoughts swirl

my mind too overstimulated to focus

and too numb to the world to think

but the chaos of learning and unlearning

is a current pulling me under

so i disconnect

with myself

but the second i decide to draw in i feel

the need to project out

and hope to be seen

but never

by the right person

noticed but never discovered

although

do i let anyone try? or am i

too scared

of the woman they might find?

or is it that i'm terrified of permanence

so i fail

to grow roots or

curl my tendrils around

anything but my own stalk

self supporting

self suffocating

self, separating from truth
