Smile That Hides

Always Near Tears #VocalNPM

I walk around with a smile on my lips

It doesn’t reach my eyes because my happy no longer exists

My chest hurts and a lump is ever present in my throat

I stay confused because I feel like someone has died but everyone’s still alive

How long will I feel this way?

How long can I feel this way?

How do I even physically have any more tears? I can feel them there continuously threatening

to pour out and down like a release but it never ends

The pain I cannot describe exact or pinpoint where it’s at, but it’s there always right beneath the surface, a heavy weight I can’t unload

The burden of my life alone

sad poetry
