Smaller
Smaller, Smaller
The world keeps getting smaller,
Smaller and smaller
Day by day
Despite the immense earthly resources
God has blessed us with;
He has given us everything
We could possibly want or need
Including eternal life and love
He has provided us libraries of knowledge
Available immediately at our fingertips
Meant to expand our minds and souls
Yet we corrupt these gifts
As we hold onto the smallness
The brokenness
The pettiness
Of self-righteous ego
Manifesting hatred and intolerance through misuse of these treasures
We have made our personal lives so small
Smaller and smaller
As we allow ourselves to be engulfed
In our human mediocrity
Denying ourselves the love
And beauty that surrounds us
Preferring to be proudly suspicious
And self righteously close minded
Proudly labeling it
Safety and security
Who benefits from us being so
Afraid and distrustful?
Who benefits from our smallness?
Wy have we ahllowed ourselves to shrink
To mere shells of what the Divine intended?
Who wants us small?
Who benefits from keeping us
Reduced to such smallness
Who took away the grandness of
Human existence that the Divine blessed us with?
Did we do it to ourselves?
Or have we allowed others to control
The gifts we are all given?
The world is getting smaller day by day
Smaller, smaller, and smaller
